A little about Orientals Shorthair Cats.
Here are a few answers to common questions about Oriental Shorthairs.
Please note: Orientals are very vocal and need companionship. If you dont already have another cat, think of the posibility of getting two to keep each other company when you are not at home.
1) What is their average lifespan?
The Oriental shorthair lifespan is typically 12–15 years, but some can live well past that milestone.
2) Do they like to cuddle?
They are playful and social cats who also love to snuggle and take naps on your lap. They are quite vocal and aren't shy about demanding the attention they so rightfully deserve. They will demand your attention, express their dissatisfaction with you, or scold you for leaving them alone too long.
3) Are they good with children?
With their playful, affectionate nature, and their love of talking, Oriental Shorthairs make great playmates for kids. As with any cat, always supervise young children.
4) Are they good for people with allergies?
With regards to allergies, they have a short, fine coat that does not shed often. Because of this, owners of Oriental Shorthairs report these cats spread fewer allergens around the house. Of course everyone is different and should do their research.
5) Do they get along with other cats?
As you can probably guess, these cats are very social animals. Intelligent and affectionate, Oriental shorthair cats love to be around their families and other pets, particularly fellow felines. They're total "Velcro kitties," and often act as your second shadow.
6) Do they get along with dogs?
They love to be part of a large, lively family and will get on well with children, cats and even cat friendly dogs so long as they treat them with respect.
